Appointment of Director of Rugby at Biggleswade RUFC11th May 2018
The club is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Claypole as Director of Rugby
Following the decision by our Head Coach to move on, the executive committee reviewed both the type of coach and the coaching infrastructure and the club requirements in line with our vision and future plan. Having looked and discussed various structures it was agreed we would move forward by first appointing a Director of Rugby.
Given the coach vacancy it was decided the Director of Rugby would then lead the recruitment drive for a new First Team Coach, in line with this we looked at our current resource, contacts and coaches and one name came to the fore as a possible candidate, an approach was made to discuss if they would be interested in such a role, their approach to a role and plan for the future. Following this, further discussion and an interview was conducted and as a consequence it was agreed to appoint Andy as our first Director of Rugby. Andy has an extensive Rugby background having played at a senior level for the Army and a number of other clubs including ours, he has held coaching roles at various levels both with us and at Shelford, he is qualified coach and has massive passion, understanding of all aspect of the technical, playing and values of the game.
The club has challenges and is moving forward in many areas, our Rugby mission is ‘To be the best we can be’, this role is part of our plan to meet this is, to help every single person involved on every level (Player, coach, volunteer) achieve this.
